It’s been over three years since we explored Pflugerville, a suburb located just north of Austin, Texas.  Much has changed in this town popular with those looking for a lower cost of living and an easy commute into Austin, so now is a good time to revisit the area.

Located 17 miles north of downtown Austin, Pflugerville has Lake Pflugerville, a 180 acre man-made reservoir that has a 3 mile walking and jogging trail, playground, boat launch, pavilion, and beach area.

Children in the city attend schools in the Pflugerville School District.  For elementary, students go to one of seven schools:  Spring Hill, Murchison, Timmerman, Highland Park, Riojas, Wieland, and Brookhollow.

For grades six through eight, Pflugerville kids go to either Kelly Lane Middle School, Pflugerville Middle School, or Park Crest Middle School.

Pflugerville High School and Hendrickson High School are the homes for students in grades nine through twelve.  Pflugerville High School’s mascot is the Panther and Hendrickson’s mascot is the Hawks.

There are several employers in or near Pflugerville, including Progressive Manufacturing Technology, Inc., which is a full service metal, plastic, and ceramic manufacturing facility that specializes in engineered solutions to their customer’s problems.

As far as dining and entertainment, there’s no need to drive into Austin to have a good meal or a good time.  Pflugerville has plenty of restaurant choices, including La Patisserie, which has a taste of France (or is that Pfrance?) right in the heart of Pflugerville.  They offer delicious croissants, hand-crafted, authentic French pastries, cakes, savory tarts, crepes, quiches, soup, salad, breakfast, lunch and more.

Black Iron Eats prides themselves on serving scrumptious sandwiches like Jerk Chicken, Cubans, and short ribs and sides like potato salad and jicama mango slaw made using the freshest gourmet ingredients.

Like fancy hot dogs?  Mr. Pfranks delivers the real deal and allows you to have as many toppings as you want for no extra charge!  Scrumptious dogs and super friendly service.

In the summer, Hawaiian Falls is a water park with something for the entire family.  From thrilling slides to relaxing in the lazy river, everyone can agree on a day at Hawaiian Falls.

There are many amazing apartment communities in Pflugerville, including Broadstone Grand Avenue, which has one, two, and three bedroom garden style apartments that feature gourmet kitchens with granite counters and custom cabinets, oval tubs, personal patios or balconies, and washer and dryers in every home.  Community amenities include a pet park, resort style pool, outdoor living room with fireplace and a poolside cabana with grills.

Villas Tech Ridge loves your pets and has no breed restrictions, plus a pet park for your doggy to have fun in.  The community is within walking distance of public transportation, has a fire pit lounge, controlled access gates, and an outdoor kitchen with flat-screen tvs.  Their one, two, and three bedroom apartment homes have faux wood and ceramic tile floors, garden tubs, large walk-in closets, included washer and dryers, and carports, garages, and extra storage available.

Autumn Ranch on Swenson Farms’ one and two bedroom feature open concept living areas, gourmet kitchens with granite counters, undermount sinks, and tons of storage, tall 9 foot ceilings, and wood-style plank flooring.  Amenities include a relaxing pool with sundeck, valet trash service, available covered parking, and included washer and dryers.
