Highland Mall Revitalization

by | Jun 13, 2017 | Austin News | 0 comments

The transformation of Highland Mall from shopping center into mixed-use hub of North Central Austin life continues, the Austin Business Journal reports.

Two buildings with four stories and 390 units between them will be coming to the site.  The apartments will also have 25,000 square feet of retail space.  10% of the new apartments will be earmarked for the city’s affordable housing program.

The first apartment complex to go up at Highland Mall is almost finished.  Called Elan Parkside, it has 300 units and 5,000 square feet of space for retail.

In addition to the residential and retail aspects of the project, there will be open park space, a space for walking dogs, a pool, a fitness center and a community room.

The project, which is forecast to start later this year and be finished in a year and a half, will be done by Lake/Flato Architects and Meeks + Partners.
