This month, we’re spotlighting the East Riverside-Oltorf Neighborhood of Austin, Texas. This week, we’ll be exploring the schools in this area just south of downtown Austin and Lady Bird Lake.
Students in this area are served by both AISD and Del Valle ISD. Students west of Pleasant Valley Road attend AISD schools and students East of Pleasant Valley Road attend Del Valle Schools.
Students attending AISD go to one of two elementary schools, Allison Elementary whose mascot is the Dragon and Linder Elementary, whose mascot is the Eagle.
AISD students attend one of two middle schools, Martin for Allison students and Fulmore for Linder Students. Martin’s mascot is the Eagles. Fulmore is the Arts and Humanities Magnet, their mascot is the Falcons, and their colors are Royal Blue and White.
AISD students attend one of three high schools, Travis High School, Austin High School and Eastside Memorial Green Tech High School.
Travis High School’s mascot is the Rebels and school traditions and pride run deep. Travis High is organized into career-based Academies that students choose at the end of the freshman year, although students can choose classes from all the academies. Unique offerings include video game design, engineering and a hospitality partnership with Hyatt Hotels. Travis High also has the only academic decathlon team in AISD and Central Texas.
Austin High School’s mascot is Mr. Maroo, their colors are Maroon and White, and the campus is ranked Recognized by the TEA. Eastside Memorial Green Tech High’s mascot is the Panthers.
Del Valle students attend Baty Elementary, whose mascot is the Bobcats. They attend Ojeda Middle School, whose mascot is the Gators. Their high school is Del Valle High school which is ranked Recognized by the TEA and whose mascot is the Cardinal.
