Calming Your Home

De-stress your home by following these simple tips from Apartment Therapy.com.  When life gets overwhelming and hectic, it’s important that the place where you hang your hat doesn’t make you want to hang your head.

The first way to make your home a comfortable, happy place to be, is to set aside ten minutes a day to keep it clean.  Get up ten minutes earlier so you can get the mess and clutter knocked out right out of the gate and spend the rest of the day in a calming environment.  Can’t bear the thought of missing some shut-eye?  Do it before you go to bed at night.

Feed your stomach and you will automatically feed your soul.  Make sure your refrigerator is full of healthy ingredients you can throw together quickly so you don’t wind up eating junk food for dinner.  Think you don’t have time to cook?  Check out this round-up of ten recipes that you can make in ten minutes or less.

Light also does amazing things for your mood, so throw back the curtains or open the blinds to let the sunshine in.  Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help from your roommate(s) or partner when you’re experiencing a particularly demanding week.  They’ll be glad to have you return the favor when they’re in a bind.  Lastly, make sure your work life is separate from your home life.  Even if you work from home, make sure you don’t let your work spill into the rest of your apartment so it’s constantly staring at you making you unhappy.
