The University of Texas at Austin continues to be ranked as one of the best colleges in the nation, the Austin Business Journal reports.
US News and World Report’s 2017 Best Colleges Rankings puts UT in the 56th spot on its rankings of the country’s top large schools, which ties it with Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas. However, annual tuition and fees at SMU are over $48,190, while UT’s is just $9,830 annually for in-state tuition and fees.
The Burnt Orange power house also was named one of the most innovative schools in the country and shot up to number 18 in the nation among public schools. Its undergraduate engineering and business programs received high marks. The Cockrell School of Engineering was number one in the US for petroleum engineering programs. Cockrell’s chemical engineering program came in at number three and civil engineering ranked fourth on the list. The McCombs School of Business nabbed the number six spot.
Other Austin-area universities to make the list include Southwestern University in Georgetown, which came in at number 95 for liberal arts universities and Austin’s Huston-Tillotson University ranked fortieth on the list of historically black colleges and universities.
