This month we will be spotlighting Travis Heights, which is a charming eclectic neighborhood located just South of Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. Travis Heights was founded in 1912 by Newning, Swisher and General Stacy, but it really became a neighborhood in the 1920’s. Stacy Park was donated to the city by General Stacy and includes the “Big Stacy” pool, which is fed by a spring, and the “Little Stacy” park and swimming pool. Both were built as a WPA Project in the 1930’s.
Bordering South Congress, Travis Heights is a fun, vibrant, historic neighborhood located within walking distance of the block of shops, restaurants and music venues known as SoCo (south Congress). Houses and apartments in this adorable enclave are highly desired because of their proximity to downtown and tend to be priced at the higher end of Austin rental rates. Rents range from $1500-$2600 monthly for apartments in the middle of the action on Congress Avenue. Travis Heights is also very convenient for those needing to get anywhere in town for work or play because of its close proximity to I-35 and Ben White.
