New Boutique Hotel Planned for South Congress

A new boutique hotel is planned for South Congress behind Guero’s, the Austin American Statesman reports.  

The hotel will be developed by the same people who developed the Kimber Modern, just down the street behind the Continental Club, and will be called the Kimber Modern SoCo.  The hotel will be 3 stories with 34 rooms and an underground parking garage that will comprise 3 and a half floors and have 68 spaces.  It will also have retail and space for events.

The plans for the hotel are currently in the city approval process.  The developer and owner of the land are both hoping to fast track approval so construction can begin in the first part of 2017.

The land was previously occupied by Vuncan Video and EcoWise, but those businesses relocated and the building was torn down earlier this year.  It will be designed by Maker Architects.

Kimber Modern SoCo will have a courtyard for guests to get away from the hustle of the city and relax.
